Assessment of student learning is a fundamental skill of our teachers. It is with this regular assessment of learning and assessment for learning, that places our teachers in a very beneficial position of knowing exactly where their learners are at. From here, each teacher can then cater to the individual learner's needs, to bring about effective learning and to ensure progress.
Testing and assessment at our school, takes a number of forms and is very specifically and systematically collected, in accordance with our school testing schedule.
It is from this testing and assessment, that we closely monitor student progress and we can assess a myriad of things including: The rate of student learning, student performance against expected targets/benchmarks, adequate yearly progress and teacher effectiveness. All of which empower the teacher to better inform their practice and the learner and their parent, to better understand how they are progressing and what is expected of them at regular intervals.
Our school utilises specific data collection modules, which allow for storage, assessment of and moderation of student learning. Continuity from year to year is also significantly enhanced with such an approach.
